Previous consecutive issues of Meftih newspaper have criticized the Eritrean Canadian Association of Ontario (ECAO) for mismanaging more than half a million dollars. The writer of the investigative report, Mr. Raphael Arefaine, pinpointed that the president and his allies mismanaged the community’s assets, presented a fraudulent financial report to mislead the public and also exploited the resources and capacities of its members. Arefaine indicated that the only solution to this mess is to have an independent certified accountant audit the ECAO.

This is the most important request and it will also be Meftih’s request. The president of the ECAO has not shown the courage have Meftih interview him. Nor is he willing to confess his mistakes to the public or call for an independent audit. Instead, he is trying to protect himself by making other mistakes and propagating false information. Nevertheless, the only people he can convince are only himself and his allies because the documented information reveals the truth.

Anyone who has been watching the ECAO closely and reading the investigative report in Meftih needs to ask only one question: Why doesn’t the president of the ECAO call for an independent audit? That is the key solution that could set him free or only make him drown more deeply.

Therefore, the board of the ECAO has to play its role in fixing the status of the community center. Call for an independent audit before it is too late. Do not wait until the reins of the law land on your back. You are running out of time.
